Postby kontract_kill3r » Fri Mar 04, 2005 7:52 pm

hi, i just wanted to know the rules on being able to cover your orange tip, i have heard arguments on both sides and i just wanted to know the truth, thanx
Nothing is more satisfying than shooting a 6mm ball of plastic at your peer, watching it sail faithfully towards him/her, and hearing them yell "hit"

I think what a lot of the people on this site do is leave a blaze orange barrel plug on the replica at all times when transporting it, and then take it off when they get to the game area, and it's safe to take it off. Just make sure you always have an orange barrel plug just in case.

I've heard conflicting information about the laws on this. Some say that there are laws against the sale or transport of Airsoft replicas without blaze orange tips. Meaning you can't import them in or setup a store without following the procedures. As far as owning and operating your own personal replica without a blaze orange tip, this I'm not sure of. Still, I recommend the red endcaps be placed on replicas ANYTIME you aren't at an officialized game and actually playing.

I believe Jason may have looked into this at one point, but not sure what he found out.

I'd like to raise the subject of GBB and other pistols as well. Most if not all GBBs don't have barrel caps, the orange is mostly put directly on the slide.

If I remember correctly from filairsoft.com somewhere... If it's coming from overseas, it needs orange. They don't check within the US. then again most US retailers have it orange anyway because everyone gets their stuff from overseas.

I thought they had to be orange the the cops know that it's not a real gun. Then again, somebody could paint the tip of their real gun orange to make people think it's just an airsoft gun, and that would probably be bad.

I don't even pull my AEG out where others can see it, unless they know what it is already. I still use the orange barrel plug just incase though.

Cops dont care about the orange tips at all. They told us that anyone can paint the tip orange, so really they treat them all the same. I guess it could help a little to ease tension, but still its not illegal.

Next shipping, i think its only overseas that you would need the orange tip. Because shipping a shotgun to a friend is perfectly legal (unloaded) and they dont need an orange tip. But i could be mistaken on toys being treated different.

Be careful not to make sweeping generalizations based on what 1 cop or 1 department told you. It could be an entirely different story in another state or county, and it usually is.

this is strictly non-official in a legal but imo the only diffrance orange tips will make with the cops is after they have you siting on the curb. if you turn and your AEG is pointing at a cop orange tip or not you might be fired apon. i only use my gun (wich is a POS) on private property becaus i prefer to not die playing a game. but thats just my 2cents

After Our meeting with the head officials of the U.S. Customs service here in Portland last week the law is that to enter into the U.S.A. a Airsoft Gun MUST HAVE a permenantly affixed Orange Muzzle. There are regulations that state how far from the front of the muzzle on each side must be orange as well.

To Enter thay also must be marked with there country of Origin.

Both these markings MUST remain on the Replica untill it reaches the END User.
