Boston Mass Crackdown on AEG Sales to Minors

Airsoft safety discussion. Post here with questions about laws and safety concerns.

I've been playing airsoft here in MA for like 4 years now. In all the years not once have me or any of the people I play with done anything stupid. We really take the sport seriously and want to make somthing out of my cousins land, so its people that act stupid with the guns who are screwin' up the whole idea of the sport.

A few weeks ago a kid I go to school with comes up to me and says hey man let me borrow your MP5. He wanted to use it for vandalism and such. The kid must think I'm crazy if I was gonna let him. I told him to f-ck off and that it was idiots like him who were ruining the sport, but they don't care. So I honestly say I have to agree because I think theres more idiots out there than people who take the sport serious. It still sucks though.

Rather intelligant post and a good point. Actually, right now in MA (Boston especially) there is a SURGE of teen related deaths involving car accidents, more so than accidental firearm deaths. Yet, almost nothing has been done about it. It was just recently brought up to raise the driving age OR make the license test harder (Which it should be: When I got my license, all we did was, litterely, drive down the street, turn around, and drive back).

I find it funny that while my state wont take care of the bigger issue, they'll listen to the demands of bleeding hearts everywhere that are scared of a sport that's designed only for those who are RESPONSABLE and MATURE

Are you high?

Are you seriously saying this?

What the shazaam?

You don't understand the need/necessity/benefits (economical and cultural) for a 16 year old to drive FAR OUTWEIGH the need for a 16 year old to play airsoft. No it's not a good argument, it's extremely thin.

And no, in America airsoft IS NOT marketed to the Responsible and Mature, it's marketed to the 14 year olds who shop at Walmart with their parents and pick up the CYMA and run around their front yards shooting it. If you want to take this shit seriously, boycott CYMA and stop bitching about laws that have NOTHING to do with airsoft and should never be compared to it.

Didja miss my point?

I'm saying that MA is ignoring a bigger issue for a petty one.

And the sport IS -DESIGNED- for those who are mature enough to play it. The -IDEA- is. Some companies run on a different standard, obviously, like the sue happy CYMA who appears to only give a crap about MONEY.

To me it sounded more like someone frustrated with their local government and instead of finding legitimate claims and points you attack them for wasting time and ignoring "Bigger" issues.

By your own affirmation you state that the laws about driving are more important, thus usually more difficult and controversial. Poor decisions involving legislature could mean devistating results. Banning the sale of airsoft for kids younger than 18 is a quick decision which yeilds little negative results. Banning Driving for kids under 16 could yeild results worse than what they're trying to fix.

So again, instead of attacking the irrelevant, come up with some cohesive thoughts.

I find that kinda ironic, to be honest. I love my country and how it works. If I'm frustrated at anything, I'm frustrated with these certian individuals who refuse to see anything but the "bad news" in relation to airsoft, that being stupid kids doing stupid things. These kids ruin it for the rest who are responsable.

But it's also the fact that if they start with making a big deal out of airsoft in legal terms, being cracking down on minors or just discussing the "orange tip law," it's going to create some negative energy towards the sport by those who are unfamilier. The best way I can explain it would be to look back when DOOM came out for the PC. Just because some parents couldn't handle it, a big stink was created over it, and it created a generally negative feel towards the entire stature of the product - and even today that stature exsists.

In short, all I'm saying is this: I've got a bad feeling about this.
