Hehe - that's exactly what I was planning for my T800s - transition lenses in my prescription inserts.

I was wearing transistion glasses under shooting glasses for a while, and it got really annoying going from light to dark areas, because they don't change fast enough. The commercials that show them instantly changing are extreme dramatizations. They take more than 5 minutes to go from clear to dark, and from dark to clear.

Mine seem to change quickly. So fast that I never even really notice untill I take them off and everything is brighter.

I had a pair of transitions already, they do take a bit of time to get lighter once they've darkened - but it's not enough of a problem to bother me, but that's just my take.

Ah, I just clip on those go over sunglassess thingies, cept mine are magnetic!

About that problem, before I had contacts and I use to play paintball, that V-Force Armour paintball mask fits perfecly well over my eyeglasses, in the middle of summer here in Georgia they didnt fog up, if they did it was just a little. Course that idea of buying the perscription goggles would work much better if your friend is willing to pay that much.
