Skirmish on Friday the 24th hosted by Fury Strike Team

Postby jonbuckets » Wed Nov 22, 2006 10:41 pm

Sorry about the late notice on this one, but we were all ready to go the the Scapoose game on the 26th, and since it is cancelled, we got an itch we need to stratch. Thus, we will be hosting a skirmish on the 24th in Oregon City. This will be a rather informal event, it's just to get away from the Thanksgiving madness (by making our own), and to burn off some of the weight we'll have gained. This field is brand spankin' new and we want to try it out, and I've got an idea for an operation I'd like to test if enough people show up (the main point of this skirmish is still just to have fun, only if everyone wants to would we try something new).

We will be meeting at the Oregon City Danielsons (1500 Molalla Avenue Oregon City, OR 97045) at 11:00 AM, and will be carpooling to the field at 11:15 AM. ALL REPLICAS MUST BE IN SOME SORT OF CASE!!! The media hasn't been to friendly to Airsoft recently, and I don't want to make it any worse... and the OC police station/City Hall is maybe two thousand feet away :D . If you can't be at Danielsons between 11:00 AM and 11:15 AM, PM me and I will give you detailed directions on how to get to the field. We'll play untill too many people have to leave, or it becomes to dark, wet, and/or miserable to keep playing.

The field is in a forest, so biodegradable bb's are welcome, but not required. Normal AP outdoor FPS limits, hi-caps are allowed, wear whatever you want as long as you wont get in trouble at Danielsons . I have not been there since the rain began, but I'd imagine it's pretty wet, so dress accordingly. I will be bringing a tarp to cover our gear we aren't using, and to keep the locals from stealing it (if you catch my drift) :D . Get back to me as soon as you can, suprise appearances are welcome, and the more the merrier.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Do you have landowner permission?
Do you have Waivers?
Do all aspects of this event meet APL Safety rules?
Do you have someone over 21 that will be in charge?

Some people like maps, would yu be able to give the location and the field size?

Just so everyone knows this is not endorsed by me in anyway.

But have fun to all that go. I hope it is at least outside the city limits.

k we do have permission from city hall to run this event just to let you. And fury or team name is fury strike team beacuse of or sponser not realted to fury from W.A.R in anyway. This should be quite fun and of course i will be there. Its not very serious just like it says above, and waivers are required we will probaly make them on thanksgiving so bear with us. This is are teams first time hosting an event but it should be good for just a skirmish.
And on the waivers it would be since fury pb and airsoft outlet will technicaly be hosting it we will need to get waivers from them if possible.
ps no smokes aloud people we dont want to have people thinking the forest is on fire.
Show up and have some fun!

Very good questions...

The field consists of vacant lots, we do have permission from the city to use the lots, I personaly went to the City Hall and asked... last week thank god. The total area of the lots we will use is about 15 acres, unless a lot of people show up. We will have waivers at Danielsons (I'll try and get something posted) that all participants must sign, and if under 18 your parents must sign the wavier as well, and the APL safety rules will be used and enforced. As for someone over 21... I've never seen or heard of that rule, but we'll take a volunteer if need be. The age limit is: we only want people who are mature enough not to be dumbasses or dickheads.

Go to this website for a map and open up the OC webmaps, http://maps.orcity.org/imf/sites/OCWebMaps/jsp/launch.jsp?popup_blocked=true, then zoom in until you can see all the streets right above Beavercreek Rd where it goes inbetween HWY 213 and Molalla. Zoom in again just to the Northwest of Gales and you will be able to see the separate lots. The playing area is the two lots adjacent to the left side of Gales, and a little bit of the one to the north, you can see a clearing that is part of the field in the aerial image. The area is separated from any of the surrounding city by large hills and/or valleys. Gales is just an access path for workers to get to the powerlines that run overhead in that area.

Not a rule, but the guardians of underaged players may be comforted that someone at or over the age of majority would be in charge.

Just came up with an idea for making things a little more exciting if eveyone that shows up wants to try something new, and to go with the whole day after Thanksgiving thing.

The Great Turkey Hunt
One person will be the turkey and given a chance to run off and hide with their gun and as much ammo as they want. Everyone else will be on a free-for-all to try and hunt down, and shoot the turkey, and bring it back to the camp to eat, if you get shot while returning to camp with the turkey, you loose the turkey. You may make teams and/or groups, but if shot there will be a respawn area. The person who get the turkey wins, but if the turkey lives for 25 min. he wins... good hunting. Remember... the turkey is actually a person, not a bird.

You guys want someone to drive 200 miles.

Noone (very few) is going to drive 200 miles without pictures of the field!
The coffee will generally taste better if the latrines are dug downstream from the mess area....

I didn't think anyone would want to play that bad to even drive 200 miles... but I'll get pictures tomorrow if it'll give you a better incentive to come.
