OP: Red Invasion -- Greenwater Washington. August 28-30

Postby toddski » Tue Jul 22, 2008 9:00 am

Hey there. Trying to get the word out.
Not sure if everyone has heard of us. We are team 1st-SWORD.
1st-SWORD and ST6 are hosting an event called Red Invasion.
The event will be in Greenwater Washington which is out toward Mt. Rainier. I know its a bit of a drive for most.
Here are the details.

Image

When the Bush administration took office in the year 2000, North Korea was a member of the Nuclear Non- Proliferation treaty and was suspected of having, perhaps, one nuclear weapon. The administrations policy was not to offer anything until North Korea had completely and verifiably disarmed its nuclear program. Unfortunately, while the four years of tense six party talks with the U.S., North Korea, China, Russia, Great Britain, & Japan limped along, North Korea was able to build up enough nuclear materials for a possible 10 nuclear weapons. Then, North Korea pulled out of the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty, and successfully tested a nuclear weapon that October.

This wasn't the only disturbing politcal news going on. That same week, Yury Baluyevsky, head of the Russian General Staff, said Russia was considering to pull themselves out of the 1987 Intermediate Nuclear Forces treaty. Baluyevsky warned, " There is a strong possibility of Russia pulling out of this agreement if either side presents convincing evidence."

While this statement was only presented as a response to the proliferation of missles worldwide, there was undoubtably a more disturbing reason for this statement. His words came only one month after the United States officially annouced that it was working on placing interceptors for its Missile Defense System in Poland and four other related radar complexes in the Czech Republic. This proposal had infuriated those who see the Missile Defence System as a threat, instead of the shabby, incomplete system that isn't completed. The U.S explained that this Missile Defence System had only made a successful intercept in six out of the 11 simulated attempts, and all of these were under highly scripted, unrealistic circumstances. The truth was, Russia knew, without this Missile Defence System, the U.S would not be able to counter all of Russia's still - massive nuclear deterrent.

The U.S Missile Defense System in Poland and the Czech Republic is near completion. To everyones worst nightmare, U.S Intelligence has just learned that Russia is sending in their military to destroy the five spots that make up the Missile Defense System.

The U.S. has ordered operation "Intercept Strike" and the U.S. has deployed the 1st Bn 320th F.A. Rgt 101st Airborne Div, 3rd SFG, and the 1st Bn 75 Ranger Regiment to the area. The 3rd SFG unit has been acting as advisors monitoring the area and the situation at hand. The U.S Rangers will conduct Reconnaissance patrols to try to determine Russian troop movements.

ST6 & Sword present this 48 hour event.

When: August 28-30

Where: Greenwater

Cost: $40

looks like a great field and the fee is certainly attractive. im not sure how you can even manage to do $40 for two days including lodging and food and not go broke. the only issues that i might consider is what you consider tactics training on the 29th, and the lack of tracer units for the night event. they are kind of a specialized item and there aren't a lot of people who have them.

its also a 180 mile drive from portland. im definitely considering it though.

Mhmm, carpool? Adventure?

But I have a question, what is up with the Tactics training? What does that involve exactly? Will seasoned airsofters be required to attend? I hope it's not a waste of good playtime. :S

I believe that 1st Sword has a Green Beret in their instructor cadre........

I highly doubt that there wouldnt be something there a "seasoned" airsofter couldnt benefit from.

And Iam positively sure that it would raise the bar on play to the point you wouldnt even miss any playing time.

Well, I don't really want to learn how to flank, roll, crawl, leapfrog, and yell at team mates for example for $40 if you catch my drift... Or do push-ups. YEAH!

If I were to want to learn something, it better be for the game at hand. Not Parachute landing or doing the same old CQC tactics.

I'm not super military gung-ho guy like some people around here. I want to enjoy airsoft for what it is.

What are some subjects that will be taught in the training?

Its only money:shock: Actually our team is divided up to cover certain costs. If the $40 charge doesn't work then next year we will charge $41:p

the only issues that i might consider is what you consider tactics training on the 29th, and the lack of tracer units for the night event. they are kind of a specialized item and there aren't a lot of people who have them.
One of our teammates is Special Forces. Matt (Duke) loves this stuff and gets real excited when we train. He has really sharpened our skills.
Tracer units...
Have you heard of the HUTU (Hop Up Tracer Unit)?
Almost all of our team has gone this route. My TM tracer unit finally gave out a couple of weeks ago. I got about 10 games out the unit.
The HUTU works awesome. Jawz on our team is our little research/engineer. He installed (4) UV bulbs in the hop up. Works awesome.

One of our teammates is Special Forces. He loves to come out and train us.
If you are coming up from Portland area i wouldn't require you to attend the training. Allot of the younger players really like some sort of basic training.
The training also gives us a chance to review the playing area. We will be setting up all the props for everyone to see. Allot of the larger games we go to some people don't get to see some props due to the area that they end up fighting in. If we get all of our props finished you will not be disappointed. Take a look at Bitter Ends (ST6) web site for some of the props he brings out.

Not sure about team assignments. That is up to Roger (Tank).
If your interested in coming up then go ahead and register on our forum. That way we have a "Hard" commitment from you. We don't accept " A couple of buddies and i are thinking of coming".

Good question on the age limit. My son who is 12 is on our team. But he is with me or Roger. This is on Federal land. I will look into it further but i would imagine that if your under 18 you will need a parent consent form. Like i said, i will look into it and get back to you.

Well from what i hear you airsofters from the South are a little "Soft" and need some type of training :p

I will ask and see just what is involved for the training. Maybe for you Oregonians the only training you need is how to fill a speed loader
Gotta raze ya a bit.

Haha! I'll show you how soft real players from the south are! :D

When you see me rolling up in my old Benz with three pistols, a 5 year old bone stock TM AK Beta shooting 227FPS (it's been consistent for 3 years at that FPS. 218 at GSIII!), and my hat you must prepare yourself. And maybe even a foam sword, who knows. Speedloader? Psh, real men use a tube and stick.

When I tried looking up more information on the event, it seems that the original thread doesn't exists. Looks like your forum got reset? Also what would be specific uniform requirements? Player cap on platoons and game over all? Magazine requirements?

Got a couple more answers...

Tank wrote:
toddski wrote:Item #1. Some people are asking about the training and what it involves. Can we get a general idea what we are going to work on.

It will be "Basic Tactics" ie, formation, movement, what to do on contact, etc. I'll see if I can have Duke work up a better list.

toddski wrote:Also, are people required to attend the training if they are coming up from Portland?

No, they may show up Friday evening. The only real negative to that is the price is still $40, the camp won't let us split the cost for just a few. They will still have to pay for a two-day rental of the camp. So it would still be $40 for the event.

toddski wrote:Item #2. Are we going to follow Evergreens policy for land use registration forms? What are the age limits?

No, we will be under our Combat rule set for this event.

As long as its not a purple hat with a feather

Yea, we had a major web crash. We lost two years worth of info. Player cap depends on how many on your team comes up. If its just one or two people we will insert you on a team.
Any magazine for this event.
