WHAT:Battle of the Bulge
WHERE:Arlington, WA
WHO:Battlesim.com
WHEN: SAT DEC 10 - SUN DEC 11, 2005

It's BACK!! The Battlesim WWII game. Time to gear up. Time to get serious! WWII Gaming at it's best. We of course are hoping for snow but we will see what happens.

Period gear is required and is available to rent. There will be some weapons restrictions but most guns will be allowed. We encourage players to use period weapons as much as possible.

What is Period? I don't have a real gun yet. You rent gear but do you rent the guns as well if so I may try to get a ride to this game. To far for me to drive alone.

Period means in "The time period of recreation" For this game it would be WWII and therefore the gear would be all WII style gear; Western Front, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Bulge

This sounds pretty awesome actually.

What do the period gear rentals consist of (for both sides?) and how much is it to rent? And would an east german trenchcoat be usable? Though it was made a little later...

Edit: might need to steal a ride from someone for this one!

Sounds cool, but I will have to pass on this one. That is the day my wife gets back from her 4 month stent in the Dominan Republic, so you know what I'll be doing that weeknd.

I hope my M14 is WWII-ish enough. A little late, but still.

If my M14 is a go, then I'll go to this one. When is someone gonna have a Vietnam OP though? I mean come on.

Somehow among the Thompsons, M1 Carbines, and K98s, your commando would look out of place.

At least you could use it in a Vietnam scenario.

Re Gear:

I have about 12 sets of Norweign M51s which are exactly like the M43 used during the Battle of the Bulge. I have 40 Swiss 1940s date wool tunics that are perfect for German players. I have about 25 haversacks, multiple boots, helmets, gaiters, mussete bags, bread bags, belts, boots, etc. All WWIIish.

I should have enough to completely gear about 10-20 players, and enough to augment another 20 with a basic impression. Likely an impression will run you around $20 to rent depending on how much stuff you want/need. We will have basic guide lines but due to the fact that WWII gear is sometime hard to get and expensive, I will likely allow most gear through about 1965. (meaning the M65 field jackets should be fine). We will also allow Swiss gear which is very similar to German and can be found for $20-$40 a set.

Basically the requirement on guns will be limited to "semi-modern" weapons. What I don't want to see are p90s, AUGs, G36s, 552s, etc. If it is a G3 or M16 variant that's fine. Just no red-dots, scopes on non-sniper weapons, etc. You will look funny with a modern weapon and we will make fun of you if we take pictures of you, but as long as there is nothing on the gun that wasn't invented after 1965 - you're good to go. Most HK weapons will be fine (circa ~1990s and before - so no G36, UMP, etc) but bring your HK91s, G3, HK51's, etc.

What I would really like is to have as many bolt action and single action weapons as possible. But M14s would be the best US weapon for the cost, but of course M1s would be prefered.

Hope that clarifies a bit.
