Re: Vigilant Wind (JOTC Mission 001) March 31st

Before I start: I'm not contesting the 25' engagement distance in general. I have a question, for clarification: Will there be buildings, and if so, will engagement distances for indoors work be different than outdoors work? I don't know the field, and I really don't want to have to put my GBB back together just so I can enter a building with a weapon. :) Thanks!

There are no buildings. This OP is happening in an Eastern Europe Wilderness Forest.

I know you're not contesting it but just to clarify once more:

The engagement distances apply in all cases. They do not change. 25' is close enough with 400+FPS AEGs on the field. With a sidearm you can get within 10'. Any closer than that and your just being a tool.

I'll put your GBB back together so you can use it. And I'll do it for fun :D

RIGHT, so I am for sure attending, have my full DPM uniform, everything is almost ready!

Out of curiosity, is anyone interested in carpooling? I can carry 7 other people with me or ride with someone else, but I certainly can not justify riding alone to the field in my Suburban...

Anyone?

Red,

Kipitry and I are riding up. You pitch in for gas and we can take my Civic. Better economy. :)

I am in Tualatin and my personal favorite way to get to the field would be up I5 to 26.

That puts me through Milwaukie/SE area. I'd be happy to give rides if y'all'd be so kind as to sling a fiver towards my general whereabouts.

Well it looks like I might have to back out of this event due to work schedule... I will get back to y'all soon on it, sorry if it ends up ruining anyone's travel plans.

Hey y'all, I would be interested in a ride. I can meet just about anywhere in Portland to make pickup easier. I'll even pay for my share of the gas!

Re: Vigilant Wind (JOTC Mission 001) Snow Conditions Update

Postby 'Skyhawk' » Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:56 pm

I went up to the field today. It got hammered in that last snow storm. There is about 20" of snow on the ground up there. I couldn't make it all the way to the spot due to my car bottoming out on the ruts in the snow. I hiked in the remaining .5 Miles to the field.

I hiked around the field in knee deep snow and was wishing I had snow shoes. The parking along the road is now mostly blocked by snow banks. This was a stark contrast to my trip up there last month when there was dry ground, no snow, and not even a mud puddle in sight.

If we don't get some serious melting this week, I don't know if it will be possible to play there on Saturday. I will be making a trip up later in the week to assess the conditions.
