Let me start by saying: Thank you so much to everybody who came out to support us for our first game. We didn't make a dime off the game (%100 profit to the field owners), but we learned a ton that we hope to take into our next event.
I saw great hustle from both sides, even though there was very little movement of the front line for a long time. Reducing the green teams respawn rules seemed to do the trick and the action picked up for that second half of the first round.
Unfortunately, the second round seemed to fall flat on its face, and I apologize, but it was kind of out of our control at that point as the field owner was trying to kick us off the field to make room for paintballers, so we made the decision to just do something simple and straightforward. Maybe it wasn't the most fun, but hey, you got a chance to empty your magazines towards a moving target so you didn't have to empty them at the cars.
Things that went right:
-Both sides did seem to play the objectives, its just so much easier to defend an HVT then it is to take it.
-The entire part of the field we were allowed to use seemed to be getting used, which is great. No matter where I walked there seemed to be players moving through it or hunkered down in it waiting to ambush.
-The weather was fantastic.
-Only a few cries of "Call your hits" that were quickly taken care of.
Things that went wrong:
-The field owner lost the keys to the fields back gate, keeping the vehicles from entering the field, and ruining roughly half the gameplay mechanics in the process.
-Having to wave off paintballers, and fight with the field owner to let us stay on the field for the time promised without giving it up to paintballers.
-Not to sully Green Teams win, but removing the weight from your bomb basically made a mechanic that was supposed to promote teamwork into something one person could do. Also, moving your spawn closer into your FOB made it impossible for Orange to win once you started to complete your objectives.
-Paintballers attempted to use our chrono, which is upsidedown up considering it is labeled as an airsoft chrono and the hole is smaller then a paintball. Beran was kind enough to help us clean it out with some napkins, but its the principle of the damn thing!
So, overall, I had a great time shooting at new and old players alike, and I look forward to promoting another event with similar objectives better executed. We will likely not run another at Splat Action however due to the issues we had with the paintballers and the field owners.
Hopefully Chainsaw will jump on here and give a more detailed AAR, since this was basically his baby.
Hope to see you all at the next one.
No expectations, No disappointment
