Re: spawn rules

Johnny Mnemonic wrote:There was also some confusion about the spawn rules, at least during the first half of the game. Even the leadership didn't seem to always understand that 1 troop from 1st Platoon + 2 troop from 2nd Platoon does not make a spawn, and that spawning could only occur in groups of 3, not 3+. Many players didn't know their exact platoon to know who they could spawn with, and it wasn't as clear as it should have been which players were tagged in and which needed more folks from their Platoon to come to the spawn point.

I would humbly suggest that since spawning is one of the more important aspects of the game, that an admin be parked at each spawn point to adjudicate. I don't know if that's really feasible, though.

btw, to be clear: I got my $30 worth, would play again A++++. The above is just a comment, not a gripe.

I'd pay another $10 if it would mean another 3 shitters, though. That thing was epic. I hope someone got pics of the hate 100 airsofters can deliver on one crap bucket. I held my crap for 18 hours, no easy feat when you've eaten MRE, beef jerky, and trail mix with peanuts for lunch. I damn near broke the toilet of a restaurant in Molalla during dinner Sunday.

Next time we go to to this course I'm going to bring an entrenching tool.

Johnny, were you on Bravo or Alpha? Bravo spawn was controlled very well by either myself, Ash/Mini-marine, or Barrett. Every time I was there, I saw people trying to gather up with their platoon mates to re-spawn. If you were on bravo, I'm sorry that it wasn't working out for you. If you were on Alpha, come over to bravo...:D

Any way you cut it, what Jester said is true.

*sigh*
Some of us don't agree. ;)

With half the number of private forum posts than Bravo, at least one last minute squad leader assignment, and mortars no-worky, Alpha still 'somehow' managed to pull it off.
You say weighted? i say teamwork.

Either way, i'd still rather have a great game & hang out with good people (i'm thinking of both Alpha and Bravo here) than win on an imaginary-point-sector-control on paper at the end of the day. :D

pulsipher wrote:I'm really sick of Splat Action paintball. Not the terrain, not the games, not the numbers of people. The field is in terrible shape. It gets worse every time we go there and they have showed NO indication that it will improve any time soon.

My first time there and i probably won't go back.
Taking cover behind a building and having yellow/green slim all over my new Marpat to show for it...yuck.
Even while following someone in my squad down a path...she stepped on a paintball and rancid yellow paste squirted all the way up my front and over my shoulder, lol.

Btw, during round 2 at sector 10, i was peaking over my log pile cover, watching for Bravo to make first contact...seeing no movement at all with at least 100-150ft of fairly open terrain down field of me someone on Bravo hit dead center of my eye-pro. One shot one kill.

Never even saw movement digging out my death rag and walking to respawn.
i don't know if that was a sniper, dmr, or one of you f**kers with awesome skills and an aeg, but man, props to whoever that was on Bravo! :D

Were you near the back of sector ten? It was probably me or Jester... My bolt was only half functioning during round 2 but I still took a few shots before switching to my friend's M4.

For the shot in question it was the cover 30 or 40 feet in front of the large fortified bunker of sector ten.

Later, after a walk to the logging road for respawn, i took hits from Bravo flanking the top side and rear of sector ten. Judging by the amount of plastic hitting me it could've been you, Jester, and about fifty of your closest friends, lol. ;)

A: We were spawning on the logging road, not on the bridge. I just used the bridge as the general landmark to describe where where we were. Actually, that played well into our strategy which was to to have a platoon threaded through that whole quadrant so people could respawn without losing ground.

B: We also had some people who did not know what platoon they were in, but the PLs and SLs did a great job of communicating to their guys, it did not take long at all for us to iron that out.

C: I can see how the times could have messed you up. I specifially called the CO on the radio to find out the index times because they played a pretty key role in judging how long we had to maintain a sector, and whether to bug out, or reinforce.

D: I LOVED being the PL for Alpha 1st Platoon. Count me in as a PL whenever you need. The strategic role of the game is just as exciting as the tactical, just different. It was like playing chess.

This.
i keep hearing 2nd round respawn as an issue. i was walking all the way over to the logging road...some Alpha was waiting there, and more came walking up after i did, so it definitely looked like most of us had the right idea.

Also, every time i made the long walk to one respawn or another (and yeah, there were a lot of those shame walks that day, lol), i thought the Alpha guys were great. Everyone that i saw knew what platoon they were with (which was a concern of mine going into this).

Some waits were longer than i would've liked, and yeah, it sucked to have an odd number at respawn sometimes. But i did see other people do the same grumpy wait i did...

All in all I thought the day was awesome. Came out to have fun and definately succeeded. Although I will agree that the Airsplat field was a mess and would think twice about going there again.

To Bravo - great adversary :D you guys kept me pinned down so much in that second half I couldn't get into the fight half the time, and when you did take me out (on numerous occassions) you made sure I was dead, with about 100 bb's flying my way! lol

I still loved someone yelling from the woods "F#$k you SOTA" after taking a sector. Still have no idea who said that hahaha.

Great game all around. Thank you Bravo for making the sector 10 firefight a trully memorable event. Also during that fight I remember Alpha guys running back to the respawn asking other dead people what squad they were in, in order to get back in the defesnsive slaughter. So in regards to not knowing squads I relate that more to individuals than game mechanics or leadership. I'm so down for a sequel.
