Wait, so this is a competition and not a training correct?
So teams will have to sign up?
hellmutt wrote:Yes this is a competition. It will be team signup. We will likely have a couple of "pickup" team slots for individuals without teams who want to go.

I'm Greg Hamilton from InSights Training Center, the guys who will be running the CQB comp. Dates are still up in the air but we are working on them.
First off Battlesim will be answering all your questions concerning FPS of guns, mags, etc. and other admin stuff.
The competition will be both paper target scenarios and role player scenarios, probably about 4 paper, 2 roleplayer. 3-4 missions on Sat and 2-3 on Sun.
We will publish as much of the scoring criteria we can before the comp. We will also probably publish at least one mission with floor plans before hand so you can get an idea of planning.
Each mission will give you the standard who, what, when, where, why stuff. You will be given you restrictions i.e. what level of force you can use (DD's, ballistic or explosive breaching etc)
Most the missions will revolve around rescuing, recovering, or arresting someone. That makes time on target critical. You will be graded and timed from your LCC to the breachpoint, and from breach/compromise to target secure, or target extraction/return to LCC-extraction point depending on the mission.

What's the Date and Cost?

Just to clarify, score will not just be based on time, many other factors will be scored also, the vast majority of those will be announced prior to each stage so you know what you are trying to achieve.
The scenarios will be both military and LE in nature and require the teams to change ROE/use of force techniques to match the mission.
Be ready to do door and window breaching, use ladders, breaching tools, breaching shotguns, and simulated explosive breaching. Also we have inert flashbangs, if you have any airsoft flashbangs bring them to use.
You will also need to use combatives, we have padded suits and there will be role-players in these suits that need to be taken down forcefully.
Once we give you the mission and what breachpoint you can use, it is up to you. Be creative and solve the problem with minimum casualties. We will not constrain you in problem solving as long as the plan will work with the scenario set-up.
Be ready to do real mission planning and rehearsals, this will be critical to mission success and will also be graded.
larger teams will have an easier time than smaller teams but smaller trams can complete the missions and even win but they will have to think more unconventionally.
You instructors will be a mixture of military spec-ops (mostly SF) and SWAT team members (most former Mil also) and a few long time tactics instructors from my staff. they will be there to not just grade you but to do a detailed AAR with you walking your team through every aspect of your mission and showing how and why it went right and wrong and giving advice on improvement.
Here's a freebie learning point:
Many missions allow for a undercover operative to do a walk-by of the breachpoint and possible windows, to do a positive ID of which door it is and how to get there. Also ID door construction, locks, cameras, lookouts, etc. So have one team member that can quick-change into civilian clothes (a male/female team works good for this as they draw little suspicion) This person/ or persons should then work point for the team movement or be pre-staged outside the breach to ID it to the approaching team or eliminate lookouts.
