WHY: Amos' Birthday.
WHEN: Sunday, Oct 12.
TIME: Ready to play at 10AM.
AGE LIMIT: Sixteen+
SCENARIO: See below [thanks to Beran and Nocte].
Please be there at 9am (or earlier) so you can gear up and be ready to play on time. Player briefing is at 9:30 followed by chrono. If someone would like to bring an additional chrono to make that part run faster, it would be appreciated.
Directions:
Take HWY 30 all the way into Scappoose, past Fred Meyer and the red Peace Candle, past the school, through downtown etc.
Take a left at the light for Scappoose-Vernonia Hwy .
Take that all the way to Cater Rd, and take a right. The right turn is a pretty sharp one, so it's kind of distinctive. There's also a sign a few hundred feet before the turn that announces the road name before you get there.
From Cater Rd, slow down (since you're in a neighborhood), and take a left onto Alder Creek Rd. There's a house on the corner with a very simple wood-pole fence for visual reference. It should be the first or second turn after you get onto Cater Rd.
When on Alder Creek, be careful driving. Be respectful of those living in this area. Follow Alder Creek Rd all the way, there are a few twists and turns, but it's nothing you can figure out if your eyes are open. You'll know you're going the right way when the road goes to one-lane (and there's a sign designating this), and when you see large pipes and broken down trucks along the sides of the road. Keep going, the road goes to gravel and you're almost there.
Follow the gravel until you see everyone, and find a spot on the side of the road to park.
Beran wrote:We are trying something new, i'm calling it "Advance and Secure". There are six points spaced out as evenly as possible, in two rows of three. each team has a respawn point set back from one end of the rows. each of the points is colored red, yellow, and blue and numbered 1 or 2.
for one team to move on to the next color point, they have to own the previous color. example: for blue team to move on to EITHER of the yellow points, they have to own both of the blue points. they can move to whichever yellow they wish, so long as they own both blue. owning a point means holding it from enemy assault for a set period of time, probably five or ten minutes. the exact length of time may vary, as this is a brand new concept and might take some tweaking to play right. eventually this concept will ideally have more points, but im starting it small to see how it plays.
while a team CAN attack a point that is not next in line to be captured, they CAN NOT capture it without owning both of the previous points in their capture line. the admins will not let you capture a point that is not next in line, so if you have questions ask one of us. to capture a point, you will need a certain amount of players (TBD depending on how many people show up) to hold a point for a certain amount of time (also TBD depending on how the game is running). to "win" you have to hold all the points for a set amount of time (again, TBD depending on how its running.) all six points start off with no owner. the red and blue points ARE NOT SPAWNS, none of the capture points are. this makes attacking points that are farther from your spawn more difficult than defending them.
again, as far as i know this has never been done before so there may be tweaking in game. the admins will do their best to keep the players informed.
respawn will be three or five man, depending on how many people show up. questions may be posed here or via PM to myself.
if for whatever reason the AAS type isnt working, we will revert to CTF or sector control.
