Crossbow – Alpha XO here,

Some of my commits are Alpha only .. Some are for the event as a whole.

Sustain:
Good pre-planning. The Alpha private forum was well used and helpful for command.

Great teamwork on the Alpha side. I know the first half may have been a little on the low action for some of the squads, but the majority sucked it up and followed orders.

Coms went very well, better that I had hoped. This was mainly due to the fact that everyone respected the radios and only SL or their 2nd’s were on the squad channel. RECON also did a great job of providing situation reports when needed but keeping the channel clear of chatter.

Great leadership and communication at the squad level ...SL are commended.

Improve:
Try to balance sides more equality – pre planning. An event like this is about learning, improving and having fun, if that happens we are all winners. Alpha was at a clear advantage with multiple established teams.

Rework how we sniper/spotter teams are commanded and make it more clear up front that there is a difference between someone who runs a bolt and a sniper (Milsim events only). ALL of the Alpha sniper/RECON players were awesome and did a great job. My comment here is only for the commanders, on both sides, to set expectations up front.

Hit the field on time .. 15 minutes late is NOT bad for airsoft, but on time is better. Ask yourself … unless some dickhead was walking back and forth through the parking lot asking if you have registered and been through chrono … would you have been on time?

Other Items:
Personally, I had a great time. Between chrono … 5 shots and clearing my mag at INDEX 115 shots, I only went through 1, 120round mag, never fired on Bravo, the job I signed up for and glad I did.

I echo Phiz’s feedback and if you missed them , I suggest you take a look. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=42650&start=195#p680366

A huge thanks to my team, Phantom Fury for going along with my crazy request to command both sides, I know it was a bit painful but we learned a lot. Thanks to Rick for hosting and all the players who participated.

See you on the field,
Crossbow out.

We had great time and are eagerly awaiting the next game.

The Good:
Loved the twist on medic rules ( At least to us. We are used to a dedicated medic). Love the Bang Bang rule. Personally, I liked the 2 heals and wondering if the guy I just shot was going to get bandaged up and start shooting again. In real life, soldiers that are bleeding out are still a threat. I wouldn't mind one heal and a bleedout time, but that usually means more lost players trying to find their squads and more radio traffic.

Loved the game format and concept. Well thought out and executed. Kudos to leadership, producers, field and everyone that made this game happen.

Lots of honorable play

The Bad:
Medic rules weren't fully grasped by all. Some wounded would find cover before calling for a medic (misinterpretation of rules).

Safety stand down. I appreciate the need and thought behind this, but the idle time created some disorganization and loss of players to the safety area. If you did not want to stop for lunch, consider rotating squads out to a safety area for stand down. Our team is used to lunch breaks. We would have been fine without it, but when the carrot was dangled.......

The Ugly:
Nothing ugly about this game....we had a great time!! As a paintballer, it took me minute or two to realize that single thud on the plywood was a sniper shooting at me (so used to full auto attacks and loud markers). Then once it registered I was under attack, I had no idea where it came from as I couldn't hear the replica. I loved the change in pace. I didn't mind not being in a constant firefight, just as long as there was a mission to complete and a task to focus on.

#edit...there was excessive side conversations going on during the game briefing. Most had nothing to do with the game. Many of the problems that occurred may have been prevented if players paid attention to the rules and objectives. It was difficult for me to hear all the briefing because of the distractions

Sustain: no lunch break. I hate wasted time and people leaving the game due to lost motivation.

Sustain: medic rule. This kept the game flowing better.

Sustain: Bang-Bang rule. Makes it easier to clear an area. Also eliminates the question, wait for medic or go to spawn

Sustain: semi-auto for riflemen. I feel this made saw gunners more important.

Otherwise I feel in general people had a good attitude and the game went pretty well. I did not get mad once(that's new). I'd have liked to play longer though.

Bill, where's that photo of me shooting you in the arm?

there was no lunch break. being recalled to your FOB for a final reload and command briefing for new mission is not a lunch break. lunch break traditionally is the game called off for several hours. everyone goes back to parking lot and chills for a hour or two and then resets. this was not the case. It was a 20 minute briefing between command and I and then to them and you.

Honest to god it felt like a tactical lunch break. I think we were all under the impression there wouldn't be any mass recall at any point like that and if we were low on supplies we'd either handle that on our own at the squad level or coordinate a resupply somehow.

Funny, I can almost hear that big, heavy sigh outta Phiz. You know the one where he's all wiped out, staring at the ground, plotting. LOL, sneaky bastard.

So glad PF split up for this, great move D. I'm sure you guys will be learning lessons from this for a while to come.

Also would like to commend you for saying that Alfa had a sizeable advantage, that's very honest. Thank you.

Understood. I think I was a little butt-hurt because the fella with the mg42 busted out what looked to be delicious General Tso chicken, and all I brought were 2 cliff bars and bananas.

Concerning the medic rule... I think the confusion might be alleviated if players, myself included, followed the rules. From what I gathered when hit first put on your death rag, then yell for medic. When healed remove said death rag and continue until hit again, then repeat process. I've always been a huge proponent of the death rag.

As always, thanks again Riddick.

DRAT's footage from the day has finally been edited into something! Sorry for the delay, but this has been a crazy school term. Also, not a whole lot of in game footage, due to two of DRAT's three GoPros not being usable that day. In any case, enjoy!
