What: Mechbox 101 class
Hosted by: M.altman, Nec, League 4 and Sparky D
When: November 12th class will begin at noon, please be at least 5-10 minutes early
Where: Mica’s house in Puyallup, a few miles south of the 31st Ave SW exit of 512. *exact address will be PMed to participants 2-3 days before the class. *

Main thread: http://www.tacomaairsoft.com/forum/inde ... pic=5770.0

**All participant are to supply their own gun and be able to take down their AEG to the gearbox level, no knowledge of the gearbox is necessary**. Even if you've already taken down a gearbox a few times before but haven't gotten much experience with it you may still want to attend. You might learn a few things that online guides cannot describe.

What to expect
This course is for those who are interested in taking apart their gearbox apart to have an opportunity to do so with those who have done it before. We’re going show what each part is inside and what it does. Plus go into detail of the major parts inside the gearbox, explaining the types of gears, motors, springs, pistons, cylinders etc. We will also be touching the basics of AOE and shimming. After this course not only should you be familiar with all the internal parts to a gearbox but also opening and closing the gearbox, gear ratios, proper cylinder selection, proper shimming.. We plan to wrap up by 6 or 7PM.

What not to expect
Do not expect to become a gearbox guru being able to upgrade your gearbox to 50 RPS at 600 FPS or being able to repair bone yard AEGs, this is not the intent of this class. This is merely to get the basics; the rest is up to you. ;)

Participants are required to bring the following, many of the tools can be found at Ace Hardware’s bargain bins or Harbor Freight:

1# & 2# Phillips screw driver
3/16” & 1/2” Flat head screw driver
Small needle nose pliers
Dental picks AKA pokers (my personal choice are the orange handled ones that can be found in Ace Hardware’s bargain bins)
Allen keys SAE and/or Metric
Star/torq keys (if needed per your gearbox)
Permanent marker
A set of Jewelers screw drivers
Flashlight or head light (preferred)

A gearbox to be taken apart (version 2 or version 3 preferred), bring the gun too. We will be test firing/Chronoing the guns at the end of the day. Please have the gearbox outside the gun upon arrival.

A taco themed potluck dish to share (I’m bringing chips and salsa!).

* Please reframe from bringing Cordless screwdrivers or impact drivers. *

The following is not required but highly recommended:

Notepad & pen/pencil for notes
Tweezers or small hemostats (preferred)
A small magnet
A small (smaller than 6") hammer
X-acto knife

When signing up, include the following in your post:
Your call sign
What type of gun you plan to bring (m4, mp5, g36, etc).
What brand of gun you plan to bring (DBoys, JG, Classic Army, G&G, etc).
What Taco dish you are bringing.

Roster:
**There will need to be a minimum of 4 participants in order to host this class and a maximum of 10 participants.**

Ah... I would love to go and see what's inside of my M16.
Anybody need a gun to use? I'm unavailable, darn it.

Doesn't have a version, it's custom.
