Junk Yard Wars after report

Postby Psistalker » Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:33 am

Holy Cripes!!! What a bleeding blast!!!! This has to be one of the best games this summer. I heard the question all day, "When are you playing here next?", "When is the next time we can do this?", etc. We will be doing a couple of "BLACK BOX GAMES" here throughout the rest of the year, but for the big event...... well, next summer is when it will happen. We have our sights on a bigger event that we are planning on promoting on the NATIONAL LEVEL for sure..... The National level game though will most likely happen next year and not this year, we shall see.....

As for what we are going to do and our big plan??? Well, we plan on holding 3 big events every year. The "F*CK TERRORISTS" on every 4th of July, "JUNK YARD WARS", and of course this next one that we are trying to set up for a national game....

Anyway, onto the "after event report":

Total players:
58 + 2 spectators

Teams present:
Evergreen
Phantom Force
MGF
PSAC
NWT
Red Regiment
and of course NATC

The day started off great, people were on time (very nice btw), and even the weather co-operated (it was forcasted to rain for the day)- but with the sunny weather we did have a fair amount of dust on the field. The first game of the day that was scheduled was the familiar "TERRITORIES" game where each team would try to control flag points for re-spawn stations.... The game went good, lots of good action for those that like the standard airsoft play and it also allowed ppl to get a good feel for the field.

The next two games up were the big "MIL SIM SCENARIO" games. I know that these games are loved by some and dreaded by others..... We try to do a little bit of everything to satisfy all. Although it doesn't matter who "wins" or "losses" at the end of the day- the idea is just to have a kick a$$ time playing airsoft- if anyone has lost that vision, you are in the wrong sport. These games as I said are different than the normal games where there is definitely "success" or "failure".... and with that, here's the synopsis of the two games: Part one set up the storyline and what was happening in the next event to come. It was a mission that emphasized teamwork, fireteams, and actual tactics for taking prisoners. The units would reflect real world activities, peoples values, and the passions that drive them. The first objective for the Russian FSB Alpha team(actual real world anti-terrorist unit for Russia) was to carry out a raid on a local hidout in Moscow where the people of Chechnya are suspected of planning domestic terrorist operations and producing bombs for such plans. All captured militants would have intel or clues to the next operation to be carried out by the people of Chechnya. The Chechen's objective- escape alive and evade capture.... I have to rate this a "failure" for the Russian team as only one clue was captured (a picture of an undiscernable building). Most Chechans that were encountered were killed instead of taken prisoner and more than should have, escaped. But now that brings us to part 2..... Part 2 was given the storyline since so few clues were gathered in the first scenario. This time, the Chechans are in the process of carrying out an act of domestic terrorism in order to desperately pressure the Russian government to recognize their independance as a seperate governmental body and territory. The scene lays out with an elementary school bus taken hostage by Chechen militant operatives. Law enforcement has tracked down the bus and with the mounting police presence on the highways, the bus dives into a local auto wrecking yard to make a final standoff and perhaps open negotiations.... As for the action- The russians made an aggressive press in all directions, dismissing all negotiations, in order to neglect the hostage takers the time to make a plan or fiddle with negotiations. Although the Chechen's made several attempts at negotiations and a table from which to bargain off of- no such act would take place. The Russians were fast and harsh- no mercy or surrender was given. Success or failure??? I give this a little of both..... This is a game that would really let us play into the roles of a mil sim experience and the actual playing of parts and adding to the story. Success?- well because the pressure and such was awesome and yet terrifying all at the same time (see how many times you can catch me cussing behind the video camara when you catch the footage on our DVD's that we will sell later). Amazingly, and man I cannot believe this, most of the hostages survived. With all those bb's flying everywhere, ricochets of pain- oh yes, I said pain, and ppl jumping and diving over seats- oh it was so glorious..... But why did I say a little bit of failure? A couple of reasons really..... I would have liked to have seen some getting into the whole negotiations thing so that units could move in unseen and perhaps get a suprise on the enemy, safety was comprimised in a few minor ways, and of course there was one instance that pissed me off. Someone on the outside of the bus grabbed somebody else's gun barrel sticking out of the window and pulled so hard as to make it flex- I honestly thought it was going to break. I don't care why it happened or who did it- but the reason I mention it here is so that we all take something to mind, and this is of paramount importance in our sport: Be honorable and have respect for other ppl, their safety, and of course their property. I know we get into the game sometimes, but that is no excuse to potentially break someone else's expensive gear..... Sorry to add that bit, but I think it's very important to note and I hope that everyone will understand. Anyway, moving on.....

The next game many ppl really liked was the "TEAM VS. TEAM" game. "Death Squad" dominated sweeping the field and ended up in a huge stand off with "Evergreen" over in the school bus area that was most heavily fortified.... Eventually time ran on and I had to blast the horn, but I think everyone still had a blast in this one.... This is a game that we will definitely continue in the future.

Next up was our "Lone Man" game..... no allies, no friends, survival of the fittest baby!!! This has to be one of my favorite games- fast, hard, and brutal. In my opinion one of the best!

And finally, we had a couple of pick up games.... thank you Mason and thank you Red Regiment for popping out game ideas for the end of a great day.....

All in all, a blast- we're planning next years big one already..... And as the sun was setting on my way home, I welcomed a nice warm shower, relaxed for my pains, and crashed hard from a long day.......

PS- please ppl, put up your reviews of this event to let us know what was working (good) and what didn't (bad). Also, give us honest reviews of the way we run our milsim games. On my footage I witnessed someone saying that "Milsim games are the best! A little complicated, but the best of everything", and I personally talked to one individual that sat out part 1 as he wasn't into milsim at all (just not his thing).....

Thank you to all that came out, played honorably, and had a damn good time! And my special thank you's to my ladies and others that helped out- without you all, I could not have made this game happen.

Most sincerely,
Psistalker
